Common washer problems we can help with
Washer won't drain
A clogged drain pump filter or a sock stuck in the drain hose is behind many no-drain calls. When the path is clear, a worn drain pump motor or a faulty control board may not be pushing water out.
Drum won't spin
On top-loaders a broken lid switch or a worn drive coupler often stops the spin cycle. Front-loaders may have a failing motor control board, worn carbon brushes or a door lock that isn't reporting closed.
Leaking water
Front-load leaks commonly start at a torn door boot seal or a loose drain hose clamp. On any washer, a cracked inlet hose or a worn tub seal can let water escape underneath.
Door or lid won't unlock
The door lock assembly can fail electrically and hold the latch shut even after the cycle ends. Water left in the drum from a drainage problem will also keep the lock engaged by design.
Violent shaking or walking across the floor
Worn shock absorbers, broken suspension springs or failed dampening straps let the tub swing too far during spin. An uneven floor or unlevel feet can make the problem much worse.
Washer won't fill or fills slowly
Clogged screens in the water inlet valve and kinked supply hoses restrict incoming water. A failed inlet valve solenoid or water level pressure switch can stop filling altogether.
Error codes on the display
Codes are the machine's way of reporting a sensor, motor or drainage fault. A technician can interpret the code for your specific model and test the component it points to.
Musty odor or mildew
Front-loaders trap moisture in the door gasket and detergent drawer, which allows mildew to grow. A partially clogged drain can also leave stale water sitting in the sump.
Repair or replace?
- Washing machines typically last around 10 to 12 years. Pumps, lid switches, door locks and suspension parts are routine repairs on younger machines.
- If the machine is near the end of that lifespan and needs a major part such as a transmission, tub bearing or main control board, compare the quote to a new model before deciding.
- Bearing failure on many front-loaders requires extensive disassembly, so older units with that issue are often better replaced.
Safety first
- If water is leaking, turn off the hot and cold supply valves behind the washer and keep children and pets away from the wet floor.
- If water has reached an outlet or cord, don't touch the plug. Switch off the circuit breaker for that area first.
- Never force a locked door open while water is in the drum.

Washer repair FAQ
Do you cover both top-load and front-load washers?
Yes. Independent technicians in our network work on top-loaders, front-loaders and many stacked units.
My washer is full of water. Should I bail it out before the visit?
You can, but it's not required. If you do, unplug the machine first and protect your floor with towels.
Why does my washer stop mid-cycle?
Common reasons include a drainage blockage, a door lock fault or an unbalanced load. A technician can pinpoint which one.
Can high-efficiency washers be repaired?
Yes. HE washers have more electronics, but most faults trace back to replaceable parts like pumps, sensors and boards.
How long does a washer repair visit usually take?
It depends on the problem and parts availability. Ask the technician for an estimate when you set up the appointment.
